On Tuesday, Vinesh Phogat, the Indian famous wrestler has been “temporarily suspended” by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) for her indiscipline during her forgettable Tokyo Olympics campaign.
According to the sources, it has been said that Vinesh, in the quarterfinals had dropped off at the Tokyo Games after a total defeat by ‘fall’. Within 16th August, the Federation is expecting a reply to the aforementioned notice that stated insubordination on three counts.
Vinesh, who had been trained with coach Woller Akos, and had travelled to Tokyo from Hungary had denied to stay at the Games Village and train with the other Indian team members. Also, she decided to wear a Nike singlet during her rounds instead of wearing the name of the official sponsor of the Indian contingent, Shiv Naresh.
The WFI told PTI, “This is gross indiscipline. She has been suspended temporarily and barred from all wrestling activities. She can’t compete in any national or other domestic events until she files a reply and WFI takes a final decision.”
The Tokyo officials stated to PTI that Vinesh had created a scene while a room was given to her which was near her Indian team-mates – Sonam, Seema Bisla and Anshu Malik- contending that these wrestlers travelled to Tokyo from India might spread coronavirus.
The official ALSO added, “She did not train with any of the Indian wrestlers. It appeared as if she had come with the Hungary team and had nothing to do with the Indian contingent. One day her timing clashed with the training timings of the Indian girls and she chose not to train at the same arena with them.”
Star grappler Vinesh Phogat could not secure the bronze medal in the quarter-finals last week after losing from her opponent Belarus’ Vanesa Kaladzinskaya in the Tokyo Olympics at Makuhari Messe Hall A Mat B.
