GUJRAT: On 13 August, during an investor summit in Gujarat in a virtual address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a “vehicle scrappage policy.” He said it will help to phase out the unfit and polluting vehicles. It will also create a lot of jobs.
The policy aimed at creating an ecosystem for phase-out unfit and polluting vehicles in an environmentally friendly and safe manner. The vehicle scrapping policy is a move to generate wealth from waste, he added.
“The launch of Vehicle Scrappage Policy today is a significant milestone in India’s development journey. The Investor Summit in Gujarat for setting up vehicle scrapping infrastructure opens a new range of possibilities. I would request our youth & start-ups to join this programme.” tweeted PM Modi.
The policy has been at work since 2015. The 20121 budget session introduced it. The policy will provide several benefits. The policy is based on the fitness of the vehicle, not age. It will investment worth more than 10,000 crores. Also, request youth and start-ups to join the programme. The Policy is an important circular part of the economy.
“Vehicle scrapping will help phase out unfit & polluting vehicles in an environment-friendly manner. We aim to create a viable #circulareconomy & bring value for all stakeholders while being environmentally responsible” he added.
