Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Tuesday announced a nationwide lockdown for 3 days over 1 case of coronavirus.
New Zealand Primi Minister announced nationwide lockdown on Tuesday over a one case of corona virus which was detected in Auckland.
As per the rules of lockdown, Auckland will be in strict lockdown for the entire week while the rest of the country will follow strict lockdown for 3 days.
As per the sources, a man from Auckland was found to be having coronavirus which authorities have assumed could be the latest delta variant.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said they will impose a strict “level 4” lockdown in which all schools, Businesses and offices will be shut down and only essential services will be open.
Further, she said “I want to assure New Zealand that we have planned for this eventuality. Going hard and early has worked for us before.”
After the announcement of PM on television people from all around the nations started rushing to supermarkets to get the essential needs.
A man who got infected was 58 years old and visited Coromandel, a coastal town that will also be in seven days lockdown.
“We have seen what can happen elsewhere if we fail to get on top of it. We only get one chance,” Ms Ardern said in a televised national address, calling the Delta strain “a game-changer.”
Before the Delta Variant came New Zealand has been successful in controlling the virus but their vaccination process has been slow since the vaccine has come out. According to world data so far only 20% of citizen has been fully vaccinated.
