Top films based on “War on Terror” you should definitely watch

There are many Films made by the Hollywood on the War On Terror. Here are some of them which I’ll like to mention which are totally based on true stories.

1. Lone Survivor– It is film is Based on the book written by Marcus Luttrell with the assistance from novelist Patrick Robinson. The Film is based on the Operation Red Wings, which was an unsuccessful United States Navy Seals country insurgent mission. The film was directed by Peter Berg and stars the Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana. The Film is based on War in Afghanistan and has a strong and experienced cast which makes it one the best films in recent times on war on terror.

2. American Sniper– This Film is directed by Clint Eastwood and follows the life of an American Sniper Chris Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in US military history with 255 kills from four tours in Iraq War, out of which 160 which are officially confirmed by the Department of defense. Bradley Cooper played the role of Chris Kyle and Sienna Miller as his wife Taya.It is loosely based on the memoir America Sniper:The Autobiography of the Most lethal Sniper in Us Military history(2012).In my opinion, this film is a must watch because of it’s epic dramatization of Iraq war and it also shows the how war affects soldiers once they come back home after a tour from places such as Iraq.

3. Zero Dark Thirty– It is film which was released in 2012, after Osama Bin Laden was killed in a raid by Navy Seals. This film gives the accounts of the events which led up to the raid on a compound where Osama Bin Laden was hiding and how he was killed by the Team Seal Six.Directed by Katheryn Bigelow, It stars Jessica Chastain as A fictional CIA intelligence Analyst with Jason Clark,Joel Edgerton, Reda Kateb. Mark Strong. It’s known for the best depiction in films till now of how Osama Bin Laden was killed.

4. 12 Strong– It is a film based on Doug Stanton’s non-fiction book Horse Soldiers, which narrates the story of U.S army Special Forces sent to Afghanistan immediately after 9/11 and how with help of local warlord, A. R dostum who was the leader of Northern Alliance defeated Taliban.Ditected by Nucolai Fuslsig, It stars Chris Hemsworth, Micheal Shannon, Micheal Peña, Navid Naghabad and others. It’s a good film to watch if you want to know how US first established their footsteps in Afghanistan post 9/11.

5. Restrepo– It’s an American Documentary film about the War in Afghanistan. Directed by American Journalist Sebastian Junger and British photojournalist Tim Hetherington. The documentary tells about the year when Junger and Hetherington were in Afghanistan on assignment for Vanity Fair and was embedded with a combat Team of the US. It captures the reality of the soldiers and their combat with the enemy. If you want a realistic account of the war in Afghanistan, then it’s a must-watch film for you.
