Mysore: On Tuesday evening near Mysore, a couple who were students visited the Chamundi Hills which was located in the outskirts of the city and a group of men encircled them and asked for money. On refusing their demand, they were attacked. Two men among them had allegedly raped the woman and her boyfriend was beaten up too.
Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minister of Karnataka reported to ANI saying “A case has been registered based on her statement. I have instructed the police to take stringent action against the culprits.”
The accused are still absconding and it has already been nearly 24 hours after the incident. The couple has been rushed to a local hospital, according to the reports.
Also, Araga Jnanendra, the Home Minister of Karnataka stated, “An FIR has been registered. Our officials have been sent to Mysuru from Bengaluru. I am also going to Mysuru tomorrow. This is a very unfortunate incident. Two students visited the forest near the helipad yesterday evening at around 7:30 pm.”
He also added, “Some goons committed the crime after following them. The girl was admitted to a hospital at around 1:30 am. The information was received from the hospital by the morning. Further enquiry is being conducted. I have told the authorities to treat the matter very seriously.“
The police have already filed a gang-rape case under Section 376-D of the Indian Penal Code. As of now, no arrests have taken place but the investigation is on.
