LONDON: Creators across the UK-based fan exclusive content site “Onlyfans” were under distress as the company announced a ban on sexually explicit content from October onwards. It would have been lethal for both the company and creator community as sexually explicit content makes a huge chunk of their revenue stream. Officials said they were facing backlash from banking partners and investors over the nature of the content available on the platform. Hence, the ban.
Just a few hours back company has decided to revoke the ban and announced the same on their Twitter handle, they wrote “Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard. We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.” The video-sharing website also said that all its creators will get individual notes to assure them their pornographic content is going to be allowed like before.”
For the majority of creators posting on Onlyfans is their only means of earning. So when the company announced the ban a few days back, many creators started deleting their content and decided to move to other platforms.
The funny thing is Onlyfans can not survive without Sexually explicit content on their platform, so who knows what were those investors and banking partners thinking. As per one investigative report, Onlyfans is struggling to find new investors due to the nature of the content on their site. But for the creator community of the platform, this news is no less than a festival.
