India lost bronze medal at Paralympics due to Vinod Kumar’s Ineligibility

TOKYO: Tokyo Paralympics declared an official statement on Vinod Kumar’s bronze medal on Monday and the medal has taken back over Vinod’s disability classification.

On Sunday F-52 discus throw competition was held at Tokyo Paralympics which is for athletes with impaired muscle power, restriction range of movement, limb deficiency, or leg length difference. Vinod Kumar has represented India in this category.

Vinod Kumar who won the bronze medal in the men’s F-52 discus throw on Sunday was put on hold following a protest over his disability. Vinod Kumar had set an Asian record with a trow of 19.91 meters to win a bronze medal however due to the protest over his disability official panel of the Tokyo Paralympic put his medal on wait.

On Monday official communication was declared by the panel which gives us a summary and details of the event. which says ” The event result as been amended following the Classification Assessment in Competition.”

India has won 6 medals so far at Tokyo Paralympics, if this medal would have count then India cloud have 7 medals.
