On his way home, a 47-year-old man was crushed to death by a collapsing wall

PUNE: Rajesh Jaywam Gaikwad (47), a was conductor with the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd, (PMPML). Gaikwad was walking home with a companion on Junakate Pimple Road at 2 p.m. when the event occurred. Gaikwad was crushed under the compound wall of a residential society near to where excavation for civic sewage work was taking place.

“Primary investigation reveals that the wall was in a deteriorated condition,” said Senior Inspector Milind Waghmare of the Pimpri police station. We’re looking into whether a structural audit of the wall was performed and who performed it. We’ll look into if any individual’s irresponsibility contributed to the incident.”

On the basis of a complaint lodged by Gaikwad’s younger brother, Ranjit, a FIR was filed at Pimpri police station on Sunday, charging him with causing death by carelessness.

The residents of the area went to his aid. His family members also responded to assist because his residence was close by, according to authorities. He had gone unresponsive by the time he was pulled out from under the crumbled wall. He was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, according to authorities.

The civic works contractor in charge of the current excavation work for the sewage pipeline, as well as the builder who built the residential society and its officebearers, have all been arrested.
