NEW DELHI: ZAPAD 2021 will be a multi-nation military exercise in Russia in which 17 countries are going to participate which are Mongolia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Russia, Belarus and India. There will be 8 countries Pakistan, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Myanmmar, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka who all are going to be observers at this exercise. The exercise is going to be held at Nizhniy in Russia from 3-16 September, as per a statement from India Army said on Wednesday.
“Zapad 2021” is a one of the theatre level exercises of Russian armed forces that primarily focuses on operations against terrorists. A statement was given by Ministry of Defense which said “The NAGA Battalion group participating in the exercise will feature an all arms combined task force. The exercise aims to enhance military and strategic ties amongst the participating nations while they plan and execute this exercise”.
“The Indian contingent has been put through a strenuous training schedule which encompasses all facets of conventional operations including mechanised, airborne & heliborne, counter terrorism, combat conditioning and firing,” as per the Ministry of Defense.
