New Zealand Spinners Bring Back the Hope on T20I series against Bangladesh

DHAKA: New Zealand made a good comeback with victory against Bangladesh in 3rd T20I bringing the series alive.

New Zealand brought breaks in the innings by grabbing the wickets in quick intervals.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh in 3rd T20I of the series at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Bangladesh.

The visitors went on with a good start scoring two boundaries at the initial over of the innings.

Bangladesh left arm fast medium bowler, Mustafizur Rahman’s first delivery of the innings strikes straightaway the Black Caps opener Finn Allen with a soft dismissal.

With the dismissal of Allen, Rachin Ravindra and Will Young started building the innings which lasted for a partnership of 30 runs till Mohammad Saifuddin trapped Young right in front.

Grandhomme walks into the crease with the dismissal of Young. Grandhomme is trapped right in front on the second delivery played.

Ravindra and Tom Latham partnership lasted for 15 deliveries. With the dismissal of Ravindra, in the next over Tom Latham was dismissed with the return catch to Mahedi Hasan.

With the fall of 5 wickets, Henry Nicholls and Tom Blundell built the innings and added 66 runs totaling the score to 128.

Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Mahmudullah scalped one wicket each. Mohammad Saifuddin finished with 2-28.

The hosts started with two back to back boundaries from Mohammad Naim in the first over of the innings.

But in span of 8 deliveries, New Zealand spinners strike and Bangladesh loose 3 wickets.

Ravindra strikes and bowls Naim with an inside edge on to the stumps at the end of 7th over of the innings.

Patel strikes two wickets in the 9th over missing a hat-trick with Nurul’s cut towards the extra cover.

With the loss of 7 wickets, hosts required 13 runs in an over to seal of the series with a victory.

Finally, Bangladesh innings came to an end and were all out for 76. New Zealand won the match by 52 runs. Azaj Patel was declared Player of the Match with figures of 4-16.
