England Cricket Board ( ECB ) has made an official announcement of the cancellation of 5th Test match after discussion with BCCI.
5th and last match between India and England which was going to start from 10th September have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. As per the sources, Indian players were denied to play the final match due to the COVID-19 fear.
On 9th September, support staff from the Indian camp tested positive but all the players were tested negative and the final match was supposed to play today as per the schedule but now since players have been denied to play the match, England Cricket Board and BCCI has finally cancelled the match.
India was leading the series with 2-1 but the final result of the series is not declared yet. What would be a result of the final match and how it would affect the point table of the World Test Championship is yet to come out.
So far now Match is cancelled but still, it raises a big question that even though after testing negative why was the Indian player denied to play the final match when England players were ready to play. Since the final match has been cancelled England Board will lose 300-400 crore rupees.
Now Indian and England players will move to UAE to complete the remaining edition of IPL and to play the T20 World cup.
