NEW DELHI: Officials claim that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was working with Dawood Ibrahim’s brother to plan attacks during the festival season in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested six men, including two allegedly trained by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Jaan Mohammad Seikh (47) of Maharashtra; Osama alias Sami (22) of Jamianagar, Delhi; Moolchand alias Lala (47) of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh; Zeeshan Qamar (28) of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh; Md Abu Bakar (23), Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh; and Mohammad Amir Javed (31) of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh were among those arrested, according to the Delhi police.
“This year, two of the accused, Osama and Zeeshan, received training in Pakistan and orders from the ISI. They were instructed to perform reconnaissance in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to plant IEDs,” said Special CP (Special Cell) Neeraj Thakur. The arrested individuals, according to Thakur, were entrusted with carrying out several components of the alleged terror plot. When Osama and Zeeshan were transferred to Pakistan from Muscat, they told Delhi Police that 14-15 Bengali-speaking persons accompanied them. These individuals were separated into several groups. These individuals, according to Delhi Police, were also subjected to similar training.
According to Thakur, “These individuals were well-coordinated from the other side of the border. These individuals formed two groups. Anees Ibrahim, the brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was in charge of the first team. This group was created to transfer and store firearms from over the border. This underworld group included Sameer and Lala. The second team was in charge of securing funds through Hawala. One of the accused individuals was assigned the task of identifying cities and sites throughout the festival season, particularly around Navratra and Ramleela, to detonate IEDs and bombs.”
According to Delhi Police, the accused men were found with high-end imported weaponry, Italian pistols, ammo, and explosives. According to police, the arrested individuals are likely to target Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
The arrested individuals are being interrogated, and more investigation is continuing. On Tuesday, the Delhi Police Special Cell broke a Pakistani terror cell and detained six persons, including two Pakistani-trained terrorists. According to the authorities, the apprehended individuals planned to carry out targeted assassinations and bombings around the country.
