On Thursday, Ola electric announced that the company has sold over more than ₹600 crore worth scooters in just 1 day. The electric scooter company opened the sale on Wednesday for those who wanted to book the scooter in advance. Ole electric claimed that it has managed to sell 4 scooters every second in first 24 hours.
Ola Ceo Bhavish Aggarwal rejoiced and celebrated the milestone with a tweet saying, “India is committing to EVs and rejecting petrol! We sold 4 scooters/sec at peak & sold scooters worth 600Cr+ in a day! Today is the last day, purchase will shut at midnight. So lock in this introductory price and buy on the Ola app before we sell out!”
The booking is going to last till Thursday 11:59pm after which the bookings are going to be closed. There are two variants of the scooter which are available to be purchased which are Ola S1 and S1 pro. The Ola S1 has price of ₹1 lakh while the a more advance version S1 pro has a price tag of ₹1.30 lakh. These prices will vary upto the regional showrooms and subsidiaries on offer. The Ola S1 has a battery range of around 120 kms while the S1 pro has a range of around 180kms. S1 pro also has more colour options available than the regular, which in 10 in total. It has higher top speed of 115 kmph.
Ola has no physical stores, instead they will do direct home delivery to their customers once the vehicle is produced. Test rides and deliveries of the scooters are slated to start from October. Ola has established a factory called the “Futurefactory” where the scooters will be manufactured and the factory will employ 10,000 women to run it; which is a record on it’s own because no factory in the world is operated by so many women. The factory is expected to produce two million electric vehicle each each year for the domestic market as well as well as for market overseas.
