NEW DELHI: As today marks the completion of one year of protests against the three farm laws, ‘black Friday’ protest march was announced by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The party said that Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib is being cordoned off and Delhi borders are being sealed.
The party tweeted, “All Delhi borders have been sealed and Punjab vehicles are being stopped. While all others pass, Punjabis are being told that our entry has been restricted. Our peaceful voices have seemingly scared the powers that be.”
The protest is scheduled to mark the completion of one year of continuing protests against the controversial three farm laws which were introduced by the government last year. The protest march started today, at 9.30 am from Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to the Parliament building.
Because of this, Section 144 has been imposed in New Delhi, in order to maintain peace, as Delhi Police says that this protest is being carried put without any permission.
Moreover, because of this agitation by farmers, The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had closed the entry and exit gates at two of its stations. DMRC through its Twitter account tweeted, “Entry and exit for Pandit Shree Ram Sharma and Bahadurgarh City have been closed.”
SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal are leading the march.
