Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo in Forbes of top earning players

LONDON: According to Forbes, Ronaldo leapfrogs Messi and reclaims top spot in the list of the world’s highest paid soccer players.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to earn $125 million before taxes in the 2021-2022 season . $70 million which is coming from his salary and bonus for his return to United, between 2003 and 2009 he delivered three consecutive Premier League titles and a Champions League crown. Brands including Nike, Herbalife, Clear and his CR7-branded portfolio that includes perfume, underwear, eyewear, hotels, gyms makes him earn from personal endorsements and partnerships with all these.

Three PSG players where Neymar at the third position, Kylian Mbappe at the fourth are right behind Messi in the rankings . It’s a common knowledge that PSG has deep pockets . Also, it is owned by the Emir of Qatar via the Qatar Sports Investments group.

Therefore, Forbes calculates that Messi has the higher gross base salary at PSG with $75 million compared to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United with $70 million. Adding on to, Ronaldo surpasses him when it comes to the other sources of income, lifting him to the No.1 spot .
