India reports 18,795 fresh infections, lowest since March

NEW DELHI: India has registered less than 20,000 cases after 201 days. Over the last 24 hours, India has registered 18,795 new coronavirus cases, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). 

Currently, India’s active cases are 2,92,206 which is the lowest in 192 days. The recovery rate in the country currently stands at 97.81 percent which is the highest since March 2020. 

In the last 24 hours 26,030 recoveries have been reported taking the total number of recoveries to 3,29,58,002. 

The death count climbed to 4,47,373 with 179 fresh fatalities, according to the data. The country also reported a big dip from the 276 deaths reported a day ago. 

Another milestone has also been achieved. In the last 24 hours, more than one crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, as per the MoHFW. Till now, 87.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered. 

“Congratulations to the nation, as we administer another one crore Covid-19 vaccine doses. Under PM Narendra Modi, India delivers a punch to Corona- Record of one crore vaccines achieved for the 5th time,” Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted. 

Out of 18,795 new Covid-19 cases and 179 deaths across India, 11,699 cases and 58 deaths were reported in Kerala on Monday. That is about 55 percent of all active cases in the country,though. 

There has been a gradual decline in Kerala as well,with the daily count of cases below 20,000 for 10 days now. 

Only five states- Kerala, Maharashtra,Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Mizoram are currently reporting more than 1,000 cases every day.

Meanwhile, the active cases has fallen below 100 in three states i.e. Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan and also three union territories i.e. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and Chandigarh.
