Thala finishes in style for CSK to enter IPL final

DUBAI: One of the teams that were first to lose their spot in qualifiers last season, was the first to qualify for the finals this season, and that team is none other but Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai qualifies to final by defeating Delhi capitals in the first qualifier today on 10 October. While playing first, Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals put a target of 172 runs on 5 wickets for Chennai to chase in 20 overs.

Chennai team under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni reached the target within 19.4 overs.Delhi Capitals enjoyed early success after Faf’s dismissal. But the CSK side, thereafter picked their fight with Ruturaj and Uthappa, fulfilling their role perfectly.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was the highest-scoring player from the CSK team scoring 70 runs off 50 balls. The next second-highest was of Robin Uthappa, who scored 63 runs but lost his wicket by a catch.

The highlight of the match was the finish by the former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The CSK captain entered the ground when Chennai was on the verge of losing, and back to back wickets had fallen.

Dhoni proved once again why he is called the best finisher in the world, and surely netizens and every cricket fan, even Indian skipper Virat agrees. The captain of the playing side scored 18 off 6 balls while scoring 12 runs in the last over. Dhoni’s innings included 3 fours and one six.

The captain stayed at the boundary till last and made sure that his team entered the final. This is the 9th time CSK has reached the finals of IPL since its beginning.

Delhi Capitals enjoyed the upper hand since the start of the game because of the four losing streaks CSK had against DC and a very good score put up by DC players. But the end resulted in something different and in total opposite of the stats.

CSK has now secured its place in the final of this IPL season by defeating Delhi Capitals in Dubai in the first qualifier. The second qualifier will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Oct 11. Both teams’ fans have high hopes from their respective teams this time.

The winner of Qualifier 2 will play against Delhi Capitals to determine if DC still have a second chance at the IPL finals, or this loss cost last year runner-ups their finale trophy.
