To All the Boys announces spin-off ‘Xo Kitty’

CALIFORNIA: It’s not every day our favourite movie franchise that we thought ended gets a new revival. “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” (TATBILB) announced that the movie franchise will start a new spin-off, with the favourite Covey sister, Kitty (played by Anna Cathcart), as the main lead.

On Oct 19th, To All the Boys’ movie producers and the writer took to their social media accounts to announce that there will be an addition to the franchise. The new spin-off series will be named “Xo Kitty”.

Jerry Han, the author of To all the Boys books announced the revival on her instagram account. Referring to the storyline, she said, “basically the stories that I would have written if I was going to continue with the books.” The spin-off series, Xo Kitty, will be a compilation of 10-episode based entirely on Kitty’s life and personal growth.

The author of the movie series will act as a co-showrunner Sascha Rothchild of “GLOW” fame. Awesomeness Studios will be producing the show. And like earlier TATB movies, the show will be on Netflix for streaming.

The summary of the show as seen goes like this -“Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.”

‘To all the Boys’ franchise started with the release of its first movie in 2018. After seeing tremendous success and the popularity of lead stars Lana Condor and Noah Centino, the film had two sequels. ‘PS I Still Love You’ (2020) and ‘Always and Forever’ (2021) also garnered fans’ love.

The series will show Anna Cathcart, aka Katherine Song-Covey, the feminist and sassiest Covey sister of the same age as Lara Jean when the movie first started. The movie will revolve around her love life with her long distance boyfriend whose glimpses and references we had in the franchise earlier movies. “The show will be about seeing her make a few stumbles and really grow into her own” said Han.
