On first visit to J&K after scrapping of Art 370, Amit Shah meets kin of slain Srinagar cop

NEW DELHI: On Friday the Union Home Minister Amit Shah have met the families of members of Jammu & Kashmir police officers who were killed in a suspected militant attack last month. Amit Shah has arrived in Srinagar on a three-day visit and he visited the slain inspector’s residence along with the Jammu and Kashmir’s G Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and DGP Dilbag Singh.

The Home Minister met with Parvez Ahmed’s wife Fatima Akhter and gave her an official paper for the government jobs. Amit Shah told the whole family that “The entire country is with you. We will always remember the supreme sacrifice being made by Dar and the Jammu Kashmir police.” His first visit since the revocation situation in the valley.

The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has gone to receive the Home Minister at Srinagar airport along with the other senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration were also present, officials said. The Home Minister has scheduled to chair a high-level security review meeting later on in the same day and also he has flagged off the inaugural Srinagar-Sharjah flight.

This is the first time that Shah has visited Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir state into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019. The officials said that Security was beefed up across Kashmir ahead of Shah’s visit to the valley. Also, the deployment of security forces has been made across the valley.
