BMC collected over Rs 77 crore in fines from mask rule violators till Oct 24

MUMBAI: Till October 19, 2021 the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation have collected over Rs 76 crore in fines from many people for not wearing face masks in a public place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the current statistic, the BMC has collected a fine of Rs 76,71,84,000 from the people for not wearing masks which is overall of the fines collected by the Mumbai Railways and Police.

At the same, the BMC have collected Rs 63,65,96,200 and the Mumbai police have collected Rs 12,55,48,600 in fines from the persons who were found without face masks in public places. Criminals on the railway lines of Western, Harbour and Central have coughed up fines worth Rs 50,39,200.

Among the 6 zones in the city, Zone 4 have seen a large number of criminals as the BMC have collected a large amount of fine around Rs 10,95,70,400 which is also followed by Zone 2 with a fine of Rs 10,23,43,700.  Besides this, on October 19 Tuesday Mumbai have reported 313 news cases and take the total tally to 7,51,491.

On Tuesday 511 COVID-19 patients were recovered and get discharged from the hospital and have taken the recovery count to 7,28,138. Now also there are 4853 active cases in the city. Also on Tuesday, the city has recorded 4 deaths due to coronavirus, which press its calamity count to 16,188 as per the data have released by the city’s civic body. 34,428 tests were get conducted on Tuesday.

On May 17 it has reported the lowest count rate with just 17,640 tests. And till date, 1,10,21,934 tests have been conducted in the city.
