BHUBANESWAR: Sala Budha Ra Badla won the National Cinema Award for best Odia film this year in Bhubaneswar. At the 67th National Film Awards ceremony in Delhi on Monday, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu presented the award to internationally recognised Odia director-writer Sabyasachi Mohapatra and producer Kumar C Dev.

I am delighted and ecstatic that the trilogy Sala Budha, Aadim Vichar, and Sala Budha Ra Badla have all garnered national recognition. For this accomplishment, I bow before Maa Samaleswari. Id also like to express my gratitude to the audience, who have shown such enthusiasm for my films, Mohapatra remarked.

Kumar C Dev, his son, is the editor, producer, and director of photography for the trilogy’s third instalment. He continued, “I am pleased that the next generation is interested in making good films.”

Atal Bihari Panda, the film’s protagonist, died a few months ago, and Mohapatra misses him terribly. He was incredibly active even though he was 90 when we shot the movie, he remarked.

On June 6, 2021, at the age of 92, the renowned actor died of old age-related diseases.

Sala Budha Ra Badla, like Sala Budha and Aadim Vichar, is based on a story written by the filmmaker’s father, Kapileswar Prasad Mohapatra.

“I miss my father, who passed away two years ago. This honour would have made him very happy, he remarked.

The acclaimed filmmaker encourages the next generation to take filmmaking seriously. “In the movies, whether commercial or parallel, there should be glimpses of Odia culture and tradition,” he continued.

Bhukha, Jai Jagannatha, Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia, Bou, and Jhilli are among his other award-winning films.
