IGNOU announces promotion for first year students, real or fake?

NEW DELHI: There has been a concern among students of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) that whether the University has announced a promotion for the first-year students as it did for the previous session. The reason for confusion being absence of notification on its website (www.ignou.ac.in).

However, the University has released an official notification on its other website (igram.ignou.ac.in) titled Notification regarding exemption to appear in the term-end examination of the first year courses of bachelor and master degree programmes.”

The notification says that the first-year students of the University of Bachelor’s and Masters Degree admitted in the July 2020 admission cycle are exempted from appearing in the upcoming Term End Examination.

It further reads, “Their marks/ grades in the Term End Examination of the first-year courses will be assigned based on the average marks/ grades obtained by them in the Term End Examination of the second-year courses.”
