PM Modi and Pope Francis had a meet in the Vatican City

VATICAN CITY: PM Modi and Pope Francis had a meet this Saturday morning in the Vatican.

PM Modi says in his social media post, that he has invited the Pope to come to visit India.

“Had a very warm meeting with Pope Francis. I had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues with him and also invited him to visit India,” PM Modi said on a Tweet.

It was scheduled as a 30-minute meet, but reports says the discussion had extended to like an hour. During the meet, they talked over international issues such as climate change and poverty eradication.

PM Modi gifted Pope, a silver candelabra and a book called, The Climate Climb: India’s strategy, actions and achievements. In return, the pope gave him a bronze medallion featuring a tree and the words in Italian “The desert will become a garden” and also a variety of his main teaching documents.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla accompanied PM Modi on this visit.
