Captain Amarinder Singh announces new political party, Pragat Singh says, not for Punjabis

CHANDIGARH: The former Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh formally announced his resignation from the Indian National Congress Party on November 2, 2021. He stated that he was hurt by the conduct of the party’s high command namely President Sonia Gandhi with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The resignation was prophesied earlier by many, but its official announcement came like a blow in the political circle.

“I have today sent my resignation to @INCIndia President Ms Sonia Gandhi ji, listing my reasons for the resignation,” said Captain Amarinder in a tweet.

He also stated “‘Punjab Lok Congress’ is the name of the new party. The registration is pending approval with the @ECISVEEP. The party symbol will be approved later.”

Pragat Singh, MLA from Punjab Congress Party has said that “The new party by Captain is not for Punjabis, neither for people and nor a Congress at all.”
