UAPA has been imposed on Shyam Mera Singh from the Tripura Government

NEW DELHI: In a tweet Shyam Mera Singh a Journalist with News Click informed that he has been imposed Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) from the Government of Tripura currently under Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

He says that, “For writing only these 3 words “Tripura is burning”, BJP Government of Tripura has imposed UAPA on me. I want to reiterate once again, I will never hesitate to stand up for justice. PM of my country might be a coward, we journalists are not.

In another tweet, he says that “Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has 4 Words and My tweet (Tripura is Burning) has only 3 words. This is the power of Truth.”

As per Ministry of Home Affairs, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 is “an Act to provide for the more effective prevention of certain unlawful activities of individuals and associations, and for dealing with terrorist activities, and for matters connected therewith.”
