CHENNAI: The police on Wednesday filed a case against the functionary of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) who declared a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who ‘kicks’ actor Suriya. The PMK have put up with offence to the actor’s recently released movie, Jai Bhim, alleging that the party was depicted negatively in the movie, in which Suriya plays the main role was also produced by him and his wife actress Jyothika.
PMK leader from Myladuthurai in Tamil Nadu, A Palanisamy has been booked under five sections of the Indian Penal Code, which incorporates, non-bailable offences too. The PMK people and leaders had taken exception to how the Vanniyar community was illustrated in the movie and acknowledged that there was an attempt to falsely accuse the party.
Suriya’s reply to PMK youth wing leader and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss was, that the film was meant to raise questions against the authorities. He had said that the movie was demonstrating the difficulties being faced by the indigenous people.
Police were deployed outside actor Surya’s house in T Nagar Chennai, after the threat from the PMK party. People from the film industry and politicians too, expressed their support to Suriya.
