Kerala tea stall owner, who travelled all around the world, passed away

KERALA: K R Vijayan, a 71-year-old tea stall owner from Kochi, who used to travel all around the world, along with his wife, passed away today.

Vijayan and his wife Mohana owned a tea stall named ‘Sri Balaji Coffee House’,they became famous after they went on to travel all around world, with their earnings. They visited Russia, recently.

Their secret to travel the world from their earnings, was that they used to save Rs. 300 every day.

The couple had visited 26 countries, in the last 14 years. They also started to get sponsors like industrialist Anand Mahindra, who sponsored their visit to Australia, in 2019 after getting to know about them from social media.

“Provider of my parippu vadas, pazham pori and chai at least twice a week, the teller of travel tales, young-at-heart buddy, the globe-trotting tea-seller of Ernakulam, Vijayan passes away. He had just returned from Russia where his wish was to meet Putin” tweeted, writer N S Madhavan.
