Yamuna Cleaning Cell formed for cleaning Yamuna river informs, Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: On Thursday, Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal informed through a tweet that a Yamuna Cleaning Cell (YCC) has been formed in to expedite the process of cleaning Yamuna river.

Kejriwal said, “In order to expedite inter-departmental decision making and execution, we formed a Yamuna Cleaning Cell (YCC) today, headed by CEO, DJB and representatives of all concerned depts. This will expedite Yamuna cleaning process.”

Yamuna river in Delhi has been witnessing tonnes of sewage, industrial and domestic effluents with enormously high level of water pollution.

As per the experts, the releasing of untreated or poorly treated effluents and sewage from various parts of the city which are not connected to the sewerage network and industrial waste could be the primary reason behind pollution in the river.
