NEW DELHI: On Thursday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal requested the government to stop the flights immediately as most of the countries have stopped flights from Omicron affected countries.
Recently the government gave new guidelines for the travelers arriving from ‘at risk’ and other countries in wake of Omicron. In response to that, the CM of Delhi responded opposingly.
He says that last year when the first wave of COVID 19 arrived, the ban on travel was delayed a lot. He further adds Delhi being the central platform for most international flights makes it more vulnerable to the virus.
He asks the government, “Hum deri kyu kar rahe hai?” (Why are we delaying?)
Omicron is the new variant of COVID19, which was first detected in South Africa. It has been classified as ‘variant of concern’ by WHO.
