KERALA: Recently Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai of Karnataka issued a notification stating, mandatory RT-PCR test report for people arriving from Kerala. The new rule applies to everyone irrespective of vaccination status.

The decision was taken as per the increase in Covid-19 cases, especially at educational institutions in Mysore and Bangalore as per sources.

The Kerala-Karnataka border check post in Coorg has a mandatory screening of people coming from Kerala. We could find a long queue of vehicles held at the border for checking RT-PCR test certificates. The daily travel restrictions have disturbed the life of many, who depend on the other state for jobs, health and education.

“Inter-state travel has become much more difficult than international travel”, said Biju, a resident from Kerala.
