Kerala Administrative Service pay scale higher than All India Services; The IAS and IPS associations approaches CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the government decision, the basic pay for KAS officers will be equivalent to that of AIS officers of higher rank, where an entry-level Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) officer would get a salary of Rs 81,800, while that of an entry-level IAS officer is Rs 56,100.

All India Services Association of both IAS and IPS have approached the CM Pinarayi Vijayan, stating the reason for the protest.

In the letter to CM on Thursday, The IAS association said that the pay scale of KAS officers is higher than the recommended rates of the state finance commission. The CM should withdraw the Ministry’s decision before it gets sanctioned, President Dr B Ashok and Secretary M V Rajamanickam wrote in the letter.

Harshita Attaluri, Secretary of the IPS Association said that if the KAS officers receive a higher salary than IPS officers, it would affect the working of the district administration.
