Uber ride booking would be available on WhatsApp messaging app

WASHINGTON DC: Uber has partnered with Meta (Facebook) in order to launch a ride booking feature using WhatsApp in India.

Nandini Maheshwari, Senior Director, Business Development, Uber APAC said, “We want to make it as easy as possible for all Indians to take an Uber trip, and to do that we need to meet them on platforms they are comfortable with. We are thrilled at this global-first integration for Uber, and look forward to rolling it out across India.”

Users will now be able to register on Uber, book a cab, as well as receive the receipt on WhatsApp itself, without the requirement of downloading Uber in their phones.

The users will be able to book a cab using simple options which include sending a message to the Uber business phone number, scanning a QR code or visiting a link to open the Uber chat window in WhatsApp.

The feature will provide all the functions available on Uber app like booking cab, setting location, tracking driver’s location & details, fee details etc.

Even for emergencies, the users can type HELP and choose from the emergency option. Following which they would get a call from Uber customer care.

The feature is currently being tested in North Lucknow and soon will be expanded to other cities of India.
