NEW DELHI: As per Global Times, a China State-Affiliated Media, the Indian film Chhichhore would be released in mainland China on January 7, 2022, it could be understood as an initiative to ease India and China bilateral relations. As it would be the first Indian movie in the Chinese mainland theatres after an interval of two years.
“The film’s launch is probably the product of a detente between China and India, reflecting the trend of cultural exchanges between the two countries, just like the release of South Korean film Oh! My Gran,” Shi Wenxue, a film critic based in Beijing, told the Global Times on Wednesday.
Some Chinese netizens appreciated the movie release being from the Director Nitesh Tiwari who produced ‘Danganl’ starring Aamir Khan which was able to set a record for Indian movies in the Chinese mainland as it crossed $193 million in 2017.
In the past, a South Korean movie Oh! My Gran was released in December, after a six-year long interval of South Korean movies in the market because of increased tensions between the two countries.
