NEW DELHI: On Friday, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in an unattended bag at East Delhi’s Ghazipur marketplace, raising security concerns. According to officials, locals noticed a suspicious iron box inside that bag today morning and informed the police.
A senior officer said that, the bag was first reported to them at 10:19 A.M. “A fire tender was dispatched to the scene after getting a phone call, and police officers came as well. Officers discovered an iron box and notified the NSG’s bomb disposal squad,” an official stated.
Apart from the dog squad, the Delhi Police Special Cell members were also called.
According to authorities, NSG’s bomb detection and disposal unit located the IED and exploded it near the market in a controlled explosion. The device’s traces have been collected for further investigation.
